This list of rules was sent home earlier in the year.
Please discuss these Rules of Netiquette with your children.
Netiquette is network etiquette,
which is acceptable conduct in network communication. It is the do's
and don’ts of the Internet.
Rules of Netiquette:
1. Children should always be supervised when using
the web.
2. Use good sense when approaching something questionable.
3. If it is too good to be true, then it is probably
not true.
4. Never give out personal information. Alert your
teacher if you meet a suspicious person or go to an unacceptable spot.
5. All people and/or information on the net are
NOT always true or honest.
6. Never use a computer to steal or destroy.
7. Don't cut, copy, and plagiarize Internet content.
Always cite your sources.
8. Keep all passwords a secret.
9. Know where you are in cyberspace and follow
that site's rules.
10. Share your net Expertise with others.
11. Keep the area clean, and free of food and drink.
12. Never use a computer to harm other people,
or snoop around their files
13. Be careful when using humor. Your humor may
not be appreciated by someone else.
14. Treat other online users, as you would like
to be treated.
15. Be cool, or be flamed. No bad words or flame-baiting
16. Capital letters are regarded as "SHOUTING"
17. Use emoticons to show emotion and humor:
:-) Smiling :-( Sad ;-) Wink B-) shades--or
cools
18. Do not stay on the net for long period of time.
Go outside, get some fresh air, rest your eyes.
